Beep beep!” Have you ever found yourself frustrated at the warning sound of your alarm reminding you of the limited time you’ve got left to make it out that door while your hair is still wet?

I bet you always wished you knew some easy styling methods to do on those days when you don’t have the time to properly wash and blow dry your hair.

I’ve had to regret myself when I had no idea how to style my wet hair quickly whenever there’s just not enough time to spare. Whether it’s in the morning before you dash off for work or later at night when you’ve got a ball party to slay, not knowing the perfect and swift steps to take in styling your wet hair can cost you a lot in the end.

There’s enough reason for you to take a deep breath now that you’re here because I’ve got the perfect styling hacks to make your wet hair look as fabulous as ever! Oh, and did I mention that these won’t take more than five minutes max?

This is my own simple and quick way of styling my wet hair. I’ll also be sharing some tips which include the things to consider when styling wet hair.

So, make sure you read the steps till the end. Let’s jump in right away.

1. Get your hair wet!

What were you thinking really? Of course, this has got to be the first step here. So the trick to doing this right is to make your hair slightly damp.

If you just got out of the shower, allow your hair to air-dry (DO NOT USE A BLOW DRYER HERE!) naturally. This way, your hair will be able to hold the products you apply which I’ll be discussing in a bit.

Another great way to make your hair wet is to use a water spray bottle. Hold out your hair and spray water directly on it from the roots to the ends. The way I like to do this is to scrunch my hair with my hands so that it just spreads in and adds a bit of texture to it.

Tip: For ladies without natural wavy hair, a good way to pull this one off is to pull out thin hair sections and twist it with your fingers before scrunching.

2. Add a serum.

Once you’re satisfied with the level of “scrunchy-ness” and texture of your hair, the next product you should apply directly on your damp hair is a serum. This is going to give your hair a glossy look so that it shines elegantly.

Another good thing that I love about using a serum is that it de-frizzes your hair. So, even after your hair dries, you’re not likely to notice any frizz in it. Serum also treats your hair and makes it look healthy.

Depending on the type of serum product you use, make sure to apply to your hair as directed by the manufacturer.

3. Apply a gel.

Now, this is what is going to make your hair look wet. Make sure to apply a generous amount of gel to your hair by working it into your hair. Apply your gel evenly into your hair so that you don’t end up with more gel in some parts.

While doing this you should focus on applying the gel from the top to the roots. Make sure to scrunch your hair as you do this.

If you decide to do a side or middle parting, this is the best stage to get this done.

Leave your hair to dry for a couple of minutes when you’re done adding the gel. This adds more volume to your wet hair and also makes it gives it a natural beach wave. This is a great way to wear your hair to a classy dinner.

4. Finish off in a glam style.

By now, your wet hair should already look gorgeous. All you need to do is leave it hanging down the sides or just tie it up in a high ponytail.

Chances are that you’re not going to be comfortable walking around with your wet hair just hanging off your shoulders, especially if you’ve got long hair. It’s usually best to use a hair elastic to tie your hair in a high ponytail. This also gives you a polished look.

That was pretty easy and quick to do, right?

Things to consider when styling wet hair

A lot of times we tend to forget that we’re dealing with wet hair and ignore the fact that our hair is more prone to damages in this state. This is even further exacerbated by the fact that you’re most likely in a rush when doing this. A little more tugging and pulling when your hair is wet can really cause your hair to break.

Here’s a list of some important things to note when styling your wet hair:

  • Avoid getting out in cold weather when your hair is still wet.
  • Do not wrap a cotton towel around your wet hair. It’s best to get a softer towel such as a microfiber towel as this has a milder feel to your hair when it’s wet.
  • As much as possible, avoid brushing your wet hair. Like I mentioned earlier, your hair is its most vulnerable state when wet. Using a hard brush on your hair will only cause it to break. The best you could do here is to use a wide-toothed comb as this will reduce the risks of damage to your hair.
  • Go easy on the elastic hair ties. When choosing the hair tie to use on your wet hair, especially when making a ponytail, it’s best to keep it loose and not firmly tight. This will help prevent your hair from damage.
  • Another great tip to consider when styling your wet hair is to wear a wig. Investing in a wig will go a long way to save you from so much stress.

I hope you enjoyed these steps in styling your wet hair. Make sure to stick to the tips I provided at the end so that you don’t have any future regrets after styling your hair.
